Visitors are free
to meditate in the Dhyan Mandir from 0400- 2100 hours. They are also expected
to help in the Ashram chores as per their capacity. In line with the Mahatma's
style, a lot of stress is laid on doing things oneself.
Weather conditions: There are 2 main seasons, the dry, hot season
and the wet season. There is a brief cool period for about 3 weeks from
15th Dec. to 7th Jan. The dry season is from 14th Jan to 24th May when the
day temperatures could be around 39.degrees Celsius and the night temp.
around 24-27 degrees. The sun is scorching though and the sun temperatures
would be around 45 degrees. However there is an early morning chill and
dampness which renders sleeping out doors inadvisable for those accustomed
to an ordinary life indoors. During the cool period a woolen shawl is preferable
in the night. The days are warm. In the wet season there is a fair amount
of rain and an umbrella is a must. The total rainfall for the year is around
3600mm with at least 2 spells of very heavy rain lasting upto 4-5 days.
